Uncle Waffles takes amapiano to Megan Thee Stallion's Hottieween in Las Vegas

Uncle Waffles will play Megan Thee Stallion's Hottieween party in Las Vegas on Friday night, bringing an amapiano set to one of the American rapper's best-known yearly events.

Megan announced the South African-based DJ as her special guest on Instagram. Uncle Waffles shared the news on X on 27 October with a short reply.

We shutting down vegas with my Queeen.

The spelling is hers. The date is Friday 30 October, at Zouk Nightclub inside Resorts World Las Vegas. The room is 21 and over, and the set sits inside a party that runs from 9pm to 3am local time.

The party

Hottieween is Megan's Halloween party, which she has hosted since around 2019. Last year's edition was in Houston. This year it moves to Las Vegas. The theme is "Thee Circus", with Megan as ringleader and Cirque du Soleil as her partner for the night.

I'm teaming up with Cirque du Soleil and taking Hottieween to a whole other dimension.

HotNewHipHop reported that line from when she first announced the Vegas date earlier this month. Uncle Waffles is the special guest added since. General admission was listed at about $125. Part of the money raised goes to the Pete & Thomas Foundation, which Megan named after her late parents and which works on education, housing and wellness.

The booking is a one-night guest slot, not a tour date. It is also time-sensitive. Friday night in Las Vegas is tomorrow from South Africa. After the party, the news is that she played it.

From Zone 6 to the Strip

Uncle Waffles, born Lungelihle Zwane in Eswatini, broke through in October 2021. She stood in for a DJ who had pulled out of a set at Zone 6 in Soweto, and a clip of her dancing behind the decks to Young Stunna's "Adiwele" spread across social media.

Her debut single "Tanzania" went to number one in South Africa in 2022 and is now certified seven times platinum. In April 2023 she became the first amapiano act to perform at Coachella, and she has since been nominated for Best International Act at the BET Awards. Those are the career markers already on the record. They are not claims about what Friday's set will contain.

Why the costume note matters

Halloween suits the booking. Her past costumes have included Beyoncé's "Check On It" look, Nicki Minaj, and Jim Carrey as The Mask, The Citizen noted. On Friday she will be playing to Megan's fans, the Hotties, a day before Halloween. The Citizen's note is about earlier costumes, not a description of what she will wear in Las Vegas. Nobody has published Friday's look.

What is confirmed is narrower. Megan named her. Uncle Waffles answered on X on 27 October. The room is Zouk, the hours are 9pm to 3am, the age line is 21, and Cirque du Soleil is Megan's partner for a circus-themed night. The rest is a DJ set that has not happened yet.
